Redondo Beach Halloween Events 2026: Your Week at a Glance

October 15, 2026

Richard Foss had heard about a sushi counter on the Redondo Boardwalk that only opened on weekends. In his October 7 A La Carte column for Easy Reader, he describes walking the Boardwalk without finding a sign. Then he asked the staff at Scholb Brewing, who laughed and pointed to an unmarked door beside their storefront. In his description, South Bay Sushi Club is serving when that door is open. When it's closed, you'd never know it was there.

Halloween in Redondo Beach is just as easy to miss in parts. The Main Library goes first, the Pier takes Friday night and Riviera Village takes Saturday afternoon. None of the three overlap, so a family that plans ahead can go to all of them. This year a new coffeehouse on South Pacific Coast Highway lined up its grand opening with the same stretch of days.

The calendar, in order

Here is the schedule as currently published for 2026:

  1. Saturday, October 24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Halloween Carnival at the Redondo Beach Main Library.
  2. Friday, October 30, evening. Halloween on the Pier, at the Redondo Beach Pier and International Boardwalk.
  3. Friday, October 30, through Sunday, November 1. Grand opening weekend at Gravewave Coffee, 1808 S. Pacific Coast Highway.
  4. Saturday, October 31, 3 to 8 p.m. Riviera Village Halloween Trick or Treat on Catalina Avenue.

All through October, a regional guide from Macaroni KID also lists Acosta's Pumpkin Patch at the South Bay Galleria from October 1 through 31. The pumpkin patch runs the whole month, and the three big events each get their own day.

The library carnival comes first and is the least publicized. The library's calendar lists the date and the 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. window but gives no details on activities or ages. A short call to the library before you go will tell you what's planned.

Friday night belongs to the waterfront

Halloween on the Pier is free and open to all ages. The 2026 listing on Fun With Kids in LA gives the hours as 5 to 8 p.m. Trick-or-treating at participating pier and International Boardwalk businesses runs only during the first hour, from 5 to 6 p.m., and treats last only while supplies hold out. After that, everything moves to Redondo Landing for a magic show, music, Halloween crafts and a photo station.

Not every source agrees on the time. Macaroni KID's September guide lists the pier event as 6 to 9 p.m. The 5 p.m. start comes from the more detailed listing, which also says the event depends on weather and the schedule could change. If your kids care most about the candy, check the time on the Redondo Pier's Halloween page before you leave. With only one hour of trick-or-treating, being an hour late could mean missing it.

The sushi counter Foss found is on the same Boardwalk, at 160 International Boardwalk inside Scholb On The Water. Whether it's open on pier night is hard to say. Easy Reader reports it opens on weekends only, in theory from 1 to 8 p.m. The South Bay Club's September profile says it operates Friday through Sunday. Both sources list Saturday and Sunday, and showing up early helps. Foss wrote that the weekend before his column, the counter sold out so early that it closed before 6 p.m. both days. The South Bay Club's September profile describes it as a sushi and omakase counter.

Saturday, Catalina Avenue closes

On Halloween itself, the event moves south to Riviera Village. The Riviera Village Association's 2026 page lists October 31 from 3 to 8 p.m. Catalina Avenue will be closed to traffic from Avenue I to S. Elena Street, and shops will hand out candy and treats outside.

There is one timing detail to plan around. The street stays closed until 8 p.m., but candy goes out only until 6 p.m. or until supplies run out. That leaves two hours of a car-free Catalina Avenue after trick-or-treating ends. The association's own page suggests "stop for dinner in one of the many restaurants in the Village."

According to the Riviera Village event page, the event "has become a South Bay tradition, attracting thousands of children each year." Expect a crowd that size to fill the parking. The page points drivers to the "triangle parking lot" between Avenida Del Norte and S. Elena Street, plus street parking. It also lists cashless paid parking in the Plaza Riviera garage at 1611 S. Catalina Avenue, at the corner of Catalina and Avenue I, and recommends Apple Pay or Google Pay to get through faster.

The café that waited for Halloween weekend

On these same days, Gravewave Coffee is holding its grand opening at 1808 S. Pacific Coast Highway. The shop has been open for a while. A Voyage LA interview published September 28 says Erika Corona and Matt opened their first brick-and-mortar shop in Redondo Beach in July 2026. They waited until Halloween weekend for the official celebration. The shop's website calls it a "Halloween Weekend Grand Opening," with a different deal each day:

  • Friday, 10/30: buy one latte, get one free, for the first 30 customers.
  • Saturday, 10/31: buy one drink, get a second at 50% off. The deal covers drinks only.
  • Sunday, 11/1: a free 12-ounce hot coffee while supplies last.

These promotions follow the same calendar as the rest of the week. Friday's deal falls on pier night. Saturday's lands on the Village trick-or-treat. Sunday's is for the morning after.

The goth theme is a permanent concept. In his October column for Easy Reader, Foss calls Gravewave a goth-themed coffeehouse that "is not a Halloween pop-up." He also writes that when he stopped in, the music wasn't The Cure or The Damned and the room was fairly quiet. The shop describes itself as a cozy goth café half a mile from the beach. It serves Stereoscope coffee beans, ceremonial matcha and desserts from Boule de Pain, and it offers free wifi and late hours for people who want to stay and work. The listed hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed Mondays.

LIFE IS HELL... DRINK COFFEE

That line is the heading of the "About Us" section on Gravewave's site. On most days of the year it's a joke. During Halloween week it doubles as the shop's pitch.

A dinner stop on the same stretch of PCH

Gravewave's block has gained another new business this fall. Thai House Kitchen is now serving at 1914 S. Pacific Coast Highway, which Easy Reader places in Southeast Redondo. WhatNow reported in June that the restaurant comes from Naruedee Mongkhonluang and Paul Korsakul, the team behind Baramee in San Pedro. Easy Reader says the menu takes the same pan-Thai approach as Baramee.

Riviera Village's own page suggests dinner after candy ends at 6 p.m. If you'd rather leave the Village before the crowd does, Thai House Kitchen is a new choice on the same part of PCH, and Gravewave is open until 8 for coffee or matcha after the meal.
